Current Position: Medical Doctor specializing in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Vascular Medicine at the University Hospital – Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria delle Marche, Ancona, Italy.
Education and Training: Dr. Zaccone earned his Medical Degree from the Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Gemelli Hospital, Rome, Italy, where he also completed his specialization in Internal Medicine with summa cum laude. He further pursued a Second Level Master’s Degree in Clinical Angiology and completed a postgraduate course in “Management of Network Health Organizations.” He is currently engaged in a PhD program at the Polytechnic University of Marche, focusing on micro and macrovascular disease in systemic sclerosis.
Research Interests and Expertise: Dr. Zaccone’s research is centered on internal medicine, emergency medicine, and angiology, with a special emphasis on venous thromboembolism, atherosclerosis, and vascular ultrasound techniques. He is highly skilled in vascular color-Doppler ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, and thoracic ultrasound, with an expert level of proficiency in Doppler ultrasonography. He has authored 45 international scientific publications, which have garnered over 450 citations, reflecting his substantial contribution to the field. He has also been a principal investigator in three experimental studies and served as a reviewer for several high-impact journals, including “Scientific Reports” and “Internal and Emergency Medicine”.
Professional Engagements: Dr. Zaccone is an active member of various scientific societies, including the Italian Society of Internal Medicine (SIMI), where he is member of the national board, the Italian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB), and the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM), where he holds a fellowship. He also has significant teaching experience, serving as a professor in the residency program at the Polytechnic University of Marche and contributing to the education of future specialists in ultrasonography
