Fabienne Perren’straining and career is that of a Specialist in Neurology and Cerebrovascular Neurology. She is the actual Chairwoman of the NeuroSonology research Group of the World Federation of Neurology (NSG-WFN).
After studying medicine and obtaining a doctorate in Lausanne and at the Faculty of Medicine in Bonn, Germany,she did her entire training in Neurology in Lausanne. With a perfect knowledge of German, she obtained two scholarships for a 2-year stay as a post-doc in a renowned university center of vascular neurology at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
She is a passionate teacher and is Privat docent of the Medical Faculty at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where she teaches regularly. She is also teaching at the Section of Medicine at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland where she applied for a second Privat docent title. She was in charge of the Neurosonology unit and the stroke unit at the University Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland.
In parallel to her professional activity, she obtained a university diploma in neuro-ophthalmology. She was appointed Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Geneva in 2016. She is a Fellow of the ESO and of the EAN, where she as a tutor, is regularly invited to give teaching courses. She is also member of the AAN.
Her whole professional life has been and is focused on Neurology and Neurosonologyin research (funded by the Swiss National Fund and the Bertarelli-EPFL Fund), presentations and posters in multiple national and international congresses. With her research group (LUNIC Laboratory, University of Fribourg, Switzerland), she has implemented a revolutionary ultrasound technique, that permits to assess non-invasively the cerebral microcirculation in human adults.
