BORIS BRKLJACIC is Professor of Radiology and Chair of the Department of Radiology of the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, Zagreb, Croatia. He was Vice-Dean of the University of Zagreb School of Medicine from 2015-2022 in charge of research and international relations. Since 2022 he has been Vice-Rector of the University of Zagreb, Croatia’s largest university with 67,000 students. He earned an MD degree at University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1988, completed his residency in 1994, and was assistant professor, associate professor and ordinary professor before becoming full professor of radiology at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 2013. He was visiting fellow at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
Dr. Brkljacic is ordinary member of Academia Europaea, current chair of ESR EuroSafe Imaging, Secretary General of the International Society of Radiology (ISR), and Secretary of the International Society for Strategic Studies in Radiology (IS3R) and president of Croatian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology. He is past-president of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), past-president of the European Alliance for Medical Radiation Protection Research (EURAMED) as well as of the Croatian Society of Radiology. He is head of the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Health of Croatia for the National Breast Cancer Screening Programme. He is honorary fellow of European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB). He was awarded the Gold Medal of the ESR and is honorary member of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) as well as of the national radiology societies of Austria, Ireland, Poland, Israel, Russia, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovenia, and national ultrasound societies of Slovenia and Taiwan. He is International Associate Editor of Radiology and Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Ultrasound. He is editor of one textbook, author of two monographic textbooks, 73 chapters in textbooks and books, and >140 papers in peer-reviewed magazines. He was leader and investigator in several European research and tender projects
