Aya Kamaya, MD, FSRU, FSAR is Professor of Radiology at Stanford University, Division Chief of the Body Imaging Division, Director of Ultrasound, and Director of the Stanford Body Imaging Fellowship. She is a past President of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (2021-2022). Currently, she is the Society of Abdominal Radiology Igor Laufer Visiting Professor for 2024-2025 and the SAR Portfolio Director for Lifelong Learning.
Dr Kamaya has authored 4 major textbooks on the topic of abdominal and pelvic ultrasound and is the lead author of the US section of Radprimer. She has authored > 155 peer reviewed publications, is NIH and industry grant funded, and is active in clinical research in a variety of ultrasound, hepatobiliary, urologic, gynecologic, and translational ultrasound related research.
Dr Kamaya led the SRU Consensus Committee for management of Incidental Gallbladder Polyps and is co-chair of the LI-RADS Ultrasound Surveillance working group which created a standardized set of vocabulary and imaging guidelines for screening and surveillance for HCC. In addition, she is a member of the LI-RADS steering committee.
